The Sydney Mineral Exploration Discussion Group (SMEDG) holds monthly technical meetings at Club York (99 York Steet, Sydney) on the 4th Thursday of each month, commencing at 6pm. Our speakers cover a wide range of topics related to economic geology and its application to mineral exploration. Two of the highlights of our year are our cruises on Sydney Harbour, run in June and December. In addition, we jointly arrange and host the biannual Discoveries in the Tasmanides (Mines & Wines) conference. We also offer our SMEDG Geoscience Honours Scholarship, and we support student geoscience societies and distribute small items of geological field equipment as prizes to lucky students who attend our monthly meetings.
